Artist.Designer.Costumer
I am a designer and artist who works in a variety of media. I have designed clothing and costumes, masks, jewelry and tassels, and websites and graphics. I am committed to forwarding the central role the arts play in the quality of community and personal life, and thrive in a collaborative, inclusive culture.
I am trained as a pattern maker through Fashion Institute in New York and worked in the New York fashion industry. I can drape, and draft and grade flat patterns. In that capacity, I also worked with industrial machines, attended fittings, developed patterns for commercial markets and worked with sample makers and designers.
I have designed and built costumes and other fiber-based products for film, theater, opera, dance, and puppetry in Massachusetts and New Mexico. Many of my costumes have received critical notice in production reviews. Some of my favorite projects in this area included dying and distressing techniques.
I bring a broad range of skill and experience to my creative work. I combine beadwork with hand weaving, kumihimo braiding, polymer and precious metal clays to create unique jewelry and tassels. My mask making techniques include working with thermoplastics and mold making. As a painter and sculptor, I am particularly drawn to figurative work.
I work on commissions for private clients, performers and organizations such as Meow Wolf (snaggy masks), where I assisted lead artist on the build of the Santa Fe installation. As such, I am experienced managing design, construction, fittings, and maintenance of costumes, masks and other fabric- and fiber- based products, from concept through production. My work includes original designs, fully constructed pieces and repurposed pieces. I am experienced in working with all kinds of materials.
